I support my family by welding at a local factory. The pay is good, benefits are better, but I would rather be self employed. Doing what exactly I'm not sure? Ideally black smithing and metal working of some kind. Maybe building furniture? I just want to create things that people will want, use, and pay for. I tried my hand at autobody, and thought I could stand to do that as a side business, but I eventually grew tired of the monstrous job that restoring cars actually is. I still do it for myself and family, and that's what usually ties up all my free time and thoughts as of late.
Having that practical background in autobody and welding has been quite beneficial for me. The basic knowledge from welding has helped me expand into other realms of metal working. In the very same way, my painting experience lends itself nicely to getting things finished in the way that I desire. Enough tooting my own horn, I'll be posting a few projects (completed and in progress) later on today.
